The P63 is an impressive selection system. It has been producing year on year profits for 12+ years. The system was first published in full in Roger Biggs' Handicapping My Way. The system receives it's name because it is on page 63 of the book. It's historical long term win strike rate is 50%+ and the win POT varies from year to year but most years exceeds 20%. It is a highly selective method with roughly 200 bets p.a.
Here are the results for the last 13 months:
P63 Results 1-Jul-2013 to 31-Jul-2014
Selections | 177 |
Wins | 73 |
WSR % | 41.2% |
The win strike rate is down somewhat on it's long term average of 50%+. However, with so few selections this can easily happen and invariably it ends up back at it's long term rate of 50%+.
The profits:
AAPSP | BFSP | BestTote | BestTote+5%
Unit Profit | -10.75 | 6.09 | 5.37 | 14.48 |
Win POT% | -6.1% | 3.4% | 3.0% | 8.2% |
If you're taking official SP then your not doing so well. But nobody in their right mind takes SP nowadays. The bookies have become very competitive in trying to lure punters to use their services. With products like Best Tote + 5% being offered on Metro racing, Best Tote or SP offered on all races, and on Saturdays Betfair offer the Best of Five, being BFSP, 3 Totes or SP on selected races, this means you can definitely do better than these results.
Did you know that the P63 system rules were first discussed in Roger's book "Adventures in Handicapping", where he shows how to squeeze 56% WSR out of favourites. It makes for fascinating reading. We now have a limited number of copies of "Adventures in Handicapping" + "Handicapping By Numbers". Check it out here.
